The ultimate STORAGE e16-X is the second generation of PCI-e(Host) to SAS/SATA(Disk) 3U-16 bay storage product line from ultimate STORAGE. It's not only an external storage capacity expansion but also features PCI-Express slot expander to solve the PCI-e slot shortage problem in 1U or 2U server while you want to expand the big storage capacity as well as the PCI-e slot(s).
The RAID solution includes a PCI-Express host adaptor and an external PCI-e 8x cable for you to convert and connect the host system internal PCI-E slot becoming external port into the ultimate STORAGE e16-X and it's designed to provide up to three(3) PCI-e slots for plugging any standard SAS/SATA PCI-e Raid card to configue the ultimate STORAGE e16-X to be Raid Subsystem and any PCI-e add-on card while PCI-e slot is shortage in the existing server or workstation. It means the ultimate STORAGE e16-X only requires a single PCI-e slot from host server but provides a mass stoage capacity and 3 spare PCI-e slots.

| | Yes, there are four PCIe slots in the ultimate STORAGE e16-X. Except for the slots of the Target Adaptor and the Raid HBA, the remaining PCIe slots can be configured to either one PCIe x8 slot usable or two PCIe x4 slots usable upon users’ need. Users can remove a PCIe card that occupies a PCIe x8 from the computer then install it into the ultimate STORAGE e16-X, sparing the slot for the Host Adaptor of the ultimate STORAGE e16-X. |
